Probably 11th or so. I’ve reviewed the Amazfit Falcon. It’s a great value option if you want the high end materials at a budget price but I’m much more impressed with some of these other options for the stuff I like to do. Swimming, biking and running. The data he left on the watch shows he was trying it out for a couple weeks last October, so it wasn't the latest greatest thing, and he probably just straight upgraded. This guy's a maniac. In his seventies and still a competitive cyclist. Has busted his hip or pelvis twice bombing downhill MTB runs. So the Pace 2 was probably the taster, and then he went all-in on whatever the deluxe model is. TBH I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a selection of Garmins sitting in a drawer as well. 😆

Oh no. Bent would be really bad. I’ve only the experience with the one but it’s been solid so far.

I think it would depend on if you need the mapping, golf or battery life. Otherwise I’d go with the 265. 👌

Yeah, index finger is the way to go. It’s just more accurate on that finger. I’d also look at the new Amazfit Helios while you’re shopping around.

@@mlegrand As an activity and health monitor, their functionality is excellent, heart rate, oxygen level, sleep biking, hiking, swimming, weight training, yoga and a ton of other regimens, all standard with the device. The battery life is excellent - my Versa 2 will last almost a week. You’re not going to find GPS on one, although they will Sync with your phone GPS and track your route - again, standard. The biggest downside is that I don’t find them particularly durable. I have not had one last more than a couple years, and usually far less. I am strongly thinking about replacing with an Apple Ultra 2 or Garmin watch. I go on hikes, by myself and often get concerned about trail direction, so having a map handy is very important to me. My iPhone is useless as the battery will not support a 4-6 hour hike or bike ride, and it often overheats in the sun (attached to my handlebars). If the phone sleeps, it pretty much loses signal. I go to national parks or reasonably remote places about 4 times/year, and I often ride my bike around town. I typically use AllTrails. I’d be happy if Garmin made a pocket trail map phone-like device with a good screen and long battery life, but I’m not sure such a thing exists.

​@@mlegrand It came in today. Haven't done a run or sleep yet to analyze. The coaching plans seem a little weak. I'm finishing my 3rd week of a half marathon plan and the suggestion it was giving me was way below what I've been working at even though I put in my goal time. Also only let me run a max of 5 days a week, right now i'm running 6 days and going 7 days a week later in the plan. So I imagine it's more relaxed in mileage compared. I am going to test out the pace pro feature to try to run a negative split for a 5k on July 4th. Overall it's definetly a big upgrade over the apple watch I've been using. Also like how they partnered up with strava so everything syncs up including the livetrack and beacon.

Yes, and most watches will be able to be used with the HRM Pro Plus. Even non Garmin watches. I didn’t try every bike speed cadence sensor but it should also work.

Oh I think no matter what that there will be little things that you’ll miss about your Whoop but I think you’ll enjoy dropping that subscription fee. The 265 is fantastic and does a great job of giving you sleep metrics and training readiness scores. 👌

This is downloaded mp3s only. I'm guessing that there are ways to pull mp3s from Apple Music but I don't think it's going to be the smoothest process for moving songs on and off of this device easily.

@@mlegrand I love the Epix Pro too. The flashlight constantly comes in handy. The one on the Race is pretty good too but not the same thing. It reminds me of the one on the Apple Watch Ultra. It is going to be difficult to commit to just one watch.

@@T29RAG - The 255 has triathlon if that's something you need. The 255 also has better battery life but the older MIP style display. Both are accurate in my testing.

I’m guessing the fact that it’s an early beta is the cause for some concern here. Personally, I wasn’t given very much time to test this device so it became a very obvious ‘first look’ and not a full review. I was astonished with the company specs provided which I think is part of the way I presented these details. Given the length of the battery life, I literally did not have enough time to test it. But DCRainmaker and GPLama seemed very fairly critical. The company should have probably pushed this date back, let the software catch up and allow for real reviews. If COROS wants reviews to cover these launch events, they should be ok with some first looks being optimistic and others being more realistic. 🤷🏻‍♂️

"garmin loverboys" - What a ridiculous statement from the sidelines. Play the ball, not the man. And I'm not sure what constitutes a 'real review' Matt? I assume you mean a review of the production firmware? Based on the standards of their beta functionality, their conviction in sticking to their announcement date/review embargo of clearly limited/broken functionality - I have low confidence the DURA will be any better in the coming weeks. The pressure is now on Coros in a VERY big way. If consumers receive the device in the state as supplied to the media, the product will be DOA.

@@gplama - I think for me, a real review is something I’ve had for much more than a week. Maybe 2 to 3 weeks minimum? I’ve never really thought about strictly defining it but maybe I should. 🤔

As far as me, I've been very pro-COROS for many years (including still now). I want to see them put a solid competitor in the mix here. But in it's current state, this isn't it. It wasn't just myself and Shane pushing back on this privately, to COROS, prior to the announcement. A number of others did as well, noting it wasn't even close to being ready. It's one thing to do a first look for a product many months away from review focusing on the big picture thing, but I think in a case for a last-second push-back of timelines, I have to be more realistic. In my review I noted when I think COROS will be able to achieve stability, knowing how much I know about the company and what it'll take. There were 55 review units out there for the COROS Dura, and within that, the majority seemed to go to wearable people with virtually no cycling product reviews in their review portfolios. Ultimately, we see the results of that.

I watched both your and Shane's reviews and I got the impression that you did in fact want COROS to put out something that would be competitive and you were even hopefully that it might be competitive in the future. Something like “Watch out Garmin if COROS gets this fixed”. That’s pretty optimistic. If Shane thinks my video wasn't critical enough, I'd say that's a fair criticism. Behind the scene, I was also reporting bugs to COROS but only in the very short amount of time that I had access to this device. And ultimately, time spent reporting bugs is time not spent working on the review. 😬
My gut feeling, as a software developer, is that some of these bugs will be quick to fix but others are quite a long ways off still. At the same time I worry that adding additional processing to these upcoming tasks might reduce the battery life claims that are already very optimistic. I'm looking forward to doubling back and making a video about the DURA after 100 days. I think COROS will need all of that time to deliver on what they've promised here. Ultimately a year or more might be realistic. 🤷‍♂

It’s a GPS watch. It provides information about running and other workouts like distance, pace and heart rate.

No ECG and it takes fewer HR reading throughout the day. That’s one of the ways it saves battery life. I am a huge fan of the Instinct series. The 2 and 2X were excellent. @@mlegrand I’m sure it costs them more in loss of sales for not doing it. That alone makes me kinda tempted to take it back. Fortunately for them this strap isn’t all that uncomfortable. It just comes standard for left wrist. & unfortunately, although the forerunner 235 has no problem tracking my heart rate on runs and in general. The 965 heart rate sensor completely shuts down if it sees even the slightest tattoo. So for that in particular to be a downgrade from a device that’s so many years old. I find very disappointing. But that’s why it’s gotta goon my right wrist because there’s a sweet spot where the tattoos aren’t covering.

@@mlegrand your original review was one of the ones I made when I decided to sell the Enduro 2. I'd got used to an amoled screen on the Epix gen2 and didn't really need the battery life on the Enduro 2 so went for the 965 instead, I love the look and functionality

That is actually an option within settings. I prefer the look and feel of it the way you have it set but I kept accidentally pressing buttons when my wrist was bending and that isn’t an issue in this configuration. Thanks for watching and paying super close attention to all the details!!! 👀

It depends on how you define ‘performs’. I’ve found gps accuracy to be good on both and heart rate accuracy to also be similar. The Instinct 2 did better in open water swimming than most watches but I think I’d choose base on which one looks the best to you. The Pace is smaller and lighter and the Instinct series is designed to be larger but more durable. The Instinct 3 could also be coming in the future. I actually mix and match and then use Strava as my one true source of data but there is value in having all of those metrics under the same roof. With Garmin in particular, you’ll get better data dealing with training load and recovery when running and cycling are within the Garmin Connect system. @@mlegrand Can't say that I do. It just feels super weird to have a watch on my right wrist. I do use both while cycling, however: the AW stays on my wrist, and the Garmin on my handlebar as a makeshift bike computer with a chest strap connected to it.
